About Vieques

Located 16 nautical miles off the coast of mainland Puerto Rico, Vieques is a place where daily life is dictated by the rhythm of the tides and the cycles of the moon. Cars share the road with free-roaming horses, restaurants serve lobster fresh out of the ocean, and sea turtles and coral reefs enchant snorkelers and divers.

The island measures just 55 square miles, but it boasts upwards of 20 world-class beaches. Vieques is also home to the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay, where microscopic organisms enchant onlookers with their brilliant blue glow.
